Things to do in Llandudno

This summer we decided to book a last-minute trip to Wales for a long weekend and happened to stumble across a lovely Airbnb in a town that we had never heard of, called Llandudno. It turned out we were really happy with our decision to book there, as we were blown away by how lovely this seaside town was. Below we have listed some of the great things we did in Llandudno, that we would highly recommend to anyone who is lucky enough to be visiting there!

Take a trip up the cable car

One of Llandudno’s greatest attractions is the cable car that can be found close to the Llandudno pier. You can take the cable car up the mountain to the Great Orne Summit and see some fantastic views on the way. At the top, there is a restaurant bar and an adventure playground, all overlooking the ocean.
You do need to keep an eye on the weather though because if it is a really windy day, it is unlikely to be running.

Llandudno Ski Slope and Snowboard Centre

Something that we were very surprised to stumble across in Llandudno was a ski slope. It offers an array of activities, including skiing, snowboarding, tobogganing, and sno-tubing. There is also a great restaurant and bar here, so once you are done with any activities you desire, you can get stuck in with some great food or have a drink.

Llandudno Pier

Llandudno has a beautiful historic pier that dates back to 1878 and is the longest pier in Wales. You can walk down the wooden walkway, shopping in one of the souvenir shops found on the pier along the way. There are two amusement arcades at the pier, Leisure Island and The Deck Arcade. Funfair rides and other games can be found along the pier and there are some great takeaway food and drink options too.

The Great Orme Bronze Age Mines

Another thing we stumbled across whilst walking back down the Great Orne Summit was the Great Orne Bronze Age Mines, which we decided to check out. The Great Orme Bronze Age Mines are the largest prehistoric copper mines in the world and here you can walk through the tunnels that miners walked through over 3500 years ago. We loved exploring the tunnels and checking out the exhibition here, so it was well worth the visit.

Conwy Castle

Just a short drive away from Llandudno, in the nearby town of Conwy you can find Conwy Castle. The restored castle ruins overlook the sea, offering up some fantastic views. You are able to walk around the castle and view the structure of what once was a medieval fortress.

They have restored the spiral staircases in the castle, which allows you to walk all around the castle to get the full experience of what rooms would be found where and what they would be used for.

Surf Snowdonia

Dan and I love to surf, so we couldn’t resist trying out Surf Snowdonia. Located at the Adventure Parc Snowdonia, the 300-metre lagoon has wave-making technology, creating perfect waves for surfers of all levels. We tried out one of their ‘just surf’ sessions, where you can freely surf the waves on your own accord, but they do also offer lessons, from beginner level to advanced.

Adventure Parc Snowdonia also offers a lot more activities, including climbing, mountain biking, coasteering, and gorge walking. There is something for everyone there and with their on-site hotel and camping pods, you can stay for a few days and try out everything!

Zip world

We have visited Zip world multiple times and every time has been amazing. Found just 30 minutes away from Llandudno, Zip world host a whole range of adrenaline-filled activities. Here you can Zip wire across and quarry, jump on trampolines down in slate caverns, and race around the quarry in go-karts. There are also some great activities there for smaller children and those who want a more relaxing visit.
