A couple of years ago we decided to take up surfing. We absolutely love getting out on the water and have now even bought our own boards. We have found the best place to surf in the UK is Cornwall as there are plenty of beaches there that offer up some great waves. Below we list some of the best places to surf in Cornwall
Fistral Beach, Newquay

Fistral beach is probably the most popular places to surf in Cornwall. Found in Newquay, it offers consistent quality waves and you can find some big swells here which make it a great place to surf. This beach is perfect for beginners, but also for advanced surfers and there are multiple companies in Newquay that offer lessons and courses no matter your level. Newquay is where we learnt how to surf and we had an amazing teacher, so we definitely recommend getting down there!
Polzeath
Polzeath is more on the gentle side, which makes it a great place to learn for beginners and those who want to improve on their skills. A lot of beginners do come to this beach to catch a wave, so try to avoid busier times if possible!
Watergate Bay
Watergate Bay is found just a couple of miles away from Newquay. Here you will find long and straight beaches which attract thousands of surfers every month. Not only is there some great surfing here, but the small town is also incredibly beautiful and offers up some great restaurants.
Porthmeor Beach, St Ives

One of the best places to surf in Cornwall is without a doubt Porthmeor Beach. Here you can find half a mile beach located in the heart of St Ives. The waves here are usually clen and gentle, which makes it a great placec to learn. St Ives Surf School runs surf lessons here, which we highly recommend.
Surfing at Sennen Beach
Only a short drive away from St Ives is Sennen Beach. It is known for its quality surf conditions, because of its location. It is found at the tip of cornwall near lands end, which means that it picks up the Atlantic Ocean swells. Here you will often find big wave days, where pros can get out and really practice their craft.
Praa Sands
Praa sands is found just 20 minutes away from St Ives and offers p weorld class surf confitions. The waves here are big and hollow and in the summer months the waves break gently onto the sandy beach. Because of this, it is a great place for children and beginners to surf and master their skills. There is a Reef surf shop found here which provides surfboard hire and lessons.
